REGO 2 JAN 82
MINUTE OF HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR ON THE MEDICAL RETURNS FOR 1880.
I cannot find any return showing the number of vaccinations by the Medical Officers of the Colony. Ascertain for me how many persons have been vaccinated every year for the last four years by the Colonial Surgeon, the Health Officer, the Superintendent of the Government Hospital and the Deputy Superintendent of the Hospital.
J. POPE HENNESSY.
11th May, 1881.
MINUTE BY THE ACTING COLONIAL SECRETARY.
To the Colonial Surgeon for a report.
FREDERICK STEWART,
Acting Colonial Secretary.
11th May, 1881.
REPORT BY THE COLONIAL SURGEON.
No return has ever been kept.
12th May, 1881.
P. B. C. AYRES.
MINUTE BY HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR.
Write to Dr. AYRES, adverting to my enquiry and to his reply, and say that, whilst it is to be much regretted that no return has been kept by the Medical Department in such an important matter, he can probably furnish from memory, and approximately, the number he has himself vaccinated. He can call on the Health Officer and the Acting Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of the Civil Hospital for the approximate information.
Add, that in future I expect him to keep such returns, and to furnish them every month to the Government.
12th May, 1881.
J. POPE HENNESSY.
ACTING COLONIAL SECRETARY TO COLONIAL SURGEON.
